Diplipito

    0.01 sec.
Diplipito

(also nagara), a Georgian percussion instrument. It is a type of ceramic kettledrum, consisting of two clay vessels over whose mouths are stretched leather membranes. Sometimes a smaller clay vessel is added. To strengthen the sound the vessels are warmed slightly, causing the membranes to stretch and a more ringing sound to be produced. Two wooden drumsticks are used. The diplipito is used in folk orchestras.
