dipole anisotropy [′dī‚pōl ‚an·ə′sä·trə·pē]
(astronomy) A deviation of the equivalent blackbody temperature of the cosmic microwave radiation from its average value which is proportional to the cosine of the angle with some given direction, thus resembling the form of radiation from a dipole antenna.
