A removable disk module that contains a single hard disk platter or a floppy disk. See cartridge.

Old and New Disk Cartridges
Older cartridges (right) came in a variety of sizes as large as 16" in diameter. Today's cartridges use smaller 5.25" (left) and 3.5" form factors.
