A file that contains a copy of a disk drive, copied bit for bit from the original. Disk images are used to replicate the entire contents of a disk to one or more other disks. The copied disk is a 100% duplicate of the original, including all data, free space and slack space. See disk imaging, free space, slack space and IMG file. |

Currently there are two methods of accomplishing this: disk image recovery and file level recovery. Except for a few planetary fly-bys, such as Galileo, NASA has not deployed a spacecraft to provide the public with a full disk image of the Earth since Apollo. This software enables IT managers to create a complete disk image to add new users or get current users back up and productive after a fatal system crash. |
