Dmitrochenko, Aleksandr Petrovich
Born Aug. 19 (Sept. 1), 1900. Soviet agronomist; academician of the V. I. Lenin All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences (1967); Hero of Socialist Labor (1966). Dmitrochenko graduated from the Stebut Agricultural Institute in 1922 and was head of the subdepartment of the nutrition of agricultural animals for the Leningrad Zootechnical Institute (1930-35), the Leningrad Agropedagogical Institute (1930-35), the Vologda Agricultural (later, Dairy) Institute (1940-47), the Leningrad Veterinary Institute (1946-56), and the Leningrad Agricultural Institute (1927-30 and since 1946). His main works are on feeding, nutritional norms, and the problem of the effective use and evaluation of the energy food value of feeds. He has been awarded two Orders of Lenin and various medals, as well as the medal of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition and the medal of the Exhibition of the Achievements of the National Economy of the USSR.
