Dobrynin, Petr Georgievich

Born 1894; died Nov. 1 (13), 1917. An active participant in the struggle for Soviet rule in Moscow. Member of the Communist Party from early 1917.

Dobrynin was the son of a worker. He was a lathe operator at a telegraph and telephone plant in Moscow. After the February Revolution of 1917 he took part in organizing the Red Guard in Zamoskovorech’e Raion in Moscow and became a member of the Zamoskovorech’e Raion and Moscow Central Headquarters of the Red Guard in May 1917. During the October armed uprising of 1917, Dobrynin was a member of the Zamoskovorech’e Military Revolutionary Committee. He commanded the Red Guard detachment that fought fierce battles against the cadets (iunkery) near Prechistenka (now Kropotkin Street) and Ostozhenka (now Metrostroevskaia Street) and for the capture of the headquarters of the Moscow Military District. He was fatally wounded in battle. The former Serpukhov Square in Moscow is named after him.
