Dodge, Augustus (Caesar) (1812–83) U.S. representative/senator, diplomat; born at Ste. Genevieve, Mo. Settling in Iowa in 1838, he went to the U.S. House of Representatives as a territorial delegate (Dem., Iowa; 1840–46) and was then one of Iowa's first U.S. senators (1848–55).
