Dodge, Joseph M. (Morrell) (1890–1964) banker, government official; born in Detroit, Mich. He rose from an impoverished childhood to become chairman of the Detroit Bank, later Detroit Bank and Trust (1933–63). He was a U.S. government financial advisor in Germany (1945–46). In Japan under General Douglas MacArthur (1949–50), he designed an economic stability plan that was responsible for Japan's postwar industrial rehabilitation.
