Dolgikh, Vladimir Ivanovich 

Born Dec. 5, 1924, in the village of Ilanskoe, now the city of Ilanskii, Krasnoiarsk Krai. Soviet party and state figure. Candidate of technical sciences (1968). Hero of Socialist Labor (1965). Member of the CPSU since 1942.

The son of a worker, Dolgikh graduated from the Irkutsk Mining and Metallurgical Institute in 1949. From 1941 to 1943 he served in the Soviet Army and took part in the Great Patriotic War. Between 1949 and 1958 he was head of a shift, head of a shop, and chief engineer at a plant in Krasnoiarsk. He was chief engineer at the A. P. Zaveniagin Noril’sk Mining and Metallurgical Combine from 1958 to 1962 and director of the combine from 1962 to 1969.

Dolgikh served as first secretary of the Krasnoiarsk krai committee of the CPSU from 1969 to 1972. He became a secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU in 1972 and head of a department of the Central Committee in 1976. He was elected a member of the Central Committee in 1971. He served as a deputy to the seventh through tenth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.

Dolgikh has received five Orders of Lenin, the Order of the Patriotic War First Class, and various medals.
