During the investigation of a local policeman in Domanevka, Iosif Vuich, the key eyewitness Akulina Kozlova stated that shortly before the start of mass shootings of Jews, Vuich came to her husband Petr and invited him, in her presence, to join the police because, as he knew from Police Chief Aleksandr Nikora, "shortly they would start shooting Jews and all their income [probably meaning wealth] would go to [the policemen]," (73) According to the witness, at this moment she intervened and told her husband that "he would not join anything, especially not the police.
