Father Timothy Radcliffe is a former Master of the worldwide Dominican Order of Preachers and still carries a lot of "clout.
Fra Angelico had clear artistic opportunities in both the craft guilds of his town and the Dominican Order in which he was likely educated.
Its majestic central panel, in which the Virgin and Child are pictured enthroned among angels and saints, remains in Fiesole, but the Met's show includes three panels that were displayed near it, including two depictions of the blessed of the Dominican Order.
