With the recent launch of the new global domain names, dot-info and dot-biz, and the pending launch of other new domains like dot-name and dot-pro, consumers now have more options for domain registration. The partnership agreement was reached just days after the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) voted on the selection of seven new domain name suffixes -- dot-aero, dot-museum, dot-biz, dot-coop, dot-info, dot-name and dot-pro -- showcasing the growing importance of branding and localizing identities on the Internet. |
