Dove, Arthur (Garfield) (1880–1946) painter; born in Canandaigua, N.Y. He traveled in Europe (1907–09), and in 1910 had his first exhibit with Alfred Stieglitz. As an abstract painter, he used natural forms, which may be seen in his well-known painting, Fog Horns (1929). He also created collage constructions, such as his homage to his friend in Portrait of Alfred Stieglitz (1925). How to thank TFD for its existence?
