Down's syndrome [′dau̇nz ‚sin‚drōm] (medicine) A syndrome of congenital defects, especially mental retardation, typical facies responsible for the term mongolism, and cytogenetic abnormality consisting of trisomy 21 or its equivalent in the form of an unbalanced translocation.
