Drammen (drä`mən), city (1995 pop. 52,755), capital of Buskerud co., SE Norway, at the head of the Dramsfjord and at the mouth of the Dramselva River. It is a commercial and fishing port and a trade and industrial center. Manufactures include forest products, plastics, textiles, leather goods, and beer.
Drammen a city and port in southeastern Norway, situated at the junction of the Dramselv River with the Drammen fjord. Administrative center of the county of Buskerud. Population, 50,100 (1971). Drammen is a major center of the cellulose and paper industries. The city also has a machine-building plant and a shipyard. Granite quarries are located nearby. Drammen exports cellulose and paper.
