Dranyi, Semen Alekseevich
Born 1667, died 1708. A leader of the Bulavin Uprising of 1707-09. In 1707, Dranyi led the struggle of the Severskii Donets cossacks against lu. V. Dolgorukii’s punitive detachments. On June 8, 1708, Dranyi, N. Golyi, and S. Bespalyi defeated the Sumy regiment on the Urazova River, but on June 30 and July 2, Dranyi’s and Bespalyi’s detachments were defeated near Tor and in the Krivaia Luka locality on the Severskii Donets.
