Dream Control

(dreams)

Dream control or dream programming refers to the ability to manipulate one’s dreams. The control that one is able to exercise during lucid dreaming is only one aspect of this ability. Dream control also refers to the technique of requesting one’s own subconscious mind just prior to the onset of sleep to accomplish certain tasks during the dream state. A dreamer plagued by nightmares might, for instance, make a strong affirmation just before retiring that any unpleasant dream encounters be transformed into positive experiences. If successful, an attack by a wild beast, for example, might be transformed into a romp in the woods with one’s pet dog.
