Dresden, Treaty of (1745)
concluded in Dresden on Dec. 25, 1745, between Prussia on one side and Austria and Saxony on the other. The Treaty of Dresden concluded the so-called Second Silesian War (1744-45), which was a phase of the War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). According to the treaty almost all of Silesia was ceded by Austria to Prussia, and in return King Frederick II agreed to recognize Maria Theresa’s husband, Francis Stephen of Lorraine, as German emperor. The Treaty of Dresden was reaffirmed by the Peace of Aixla-Chapelle (1748). Want to thank TFD for its existence?
