driftbolt

1. A short rod or square bar driven into holes bored in timber, for attaching adjacent sticks to each other or to piles; varies from 1 to 2 ft (0.3 to 0.6 m) in length; often provided with a head or with a sharpened end; also called a drift, or driftpin.
2. A steel bolt used to drive out other bolts.
