Drouyn de Lhuys, Édouard (ādwär` drăN` də lüēs`), 1805–81, French diplomat. He served under the July Monarchy. After the Revolution of 1848, he was president of the committee of foreign affairs, ambassador to London, and three times minister of foreign affairs (1851, 1852–55, 1862–66). He had much to do with the role of Emperor Napoleon III in the Crimean War and the Austro-Prussian War.
