Dubasov, Fedor Vasil’evich
Born June 21 (July 3), 1845; died June 19 (July 2), 1912, in St. Petersburg. Russian admiral (1906), adjutant general, and reactionary. Dubasov graduated from the Naval Academy (1870) and took part in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78. From 1897 to 1899 he was in command of the Pacific Squadron. From 1901 to 1905 he was chairman of the Naval Engineering Committee. In 1905, Dubasov suppressed the peasant movement in Chernigov, Poltava, and Kursk provinces. From November 1905 to July 1906 he served as governor-general of Moscow, where he crushed the December armed uprising. In 1906 the Socialist Revolutionaries made two unsuccessful attempts on Dubasov’s life. Beginning in 1906 he was a member of the State Council, and from 1907 he was a member of the State Defense Council. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
