Duffy, Francis P. (Patrick) (1871–1932) Catholic chaplain; born in Ontario, Canada. A progressive-minded theology professor at St. Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers, N.Y. (1898–1912), and longtime New York City pastor, he earned fame for heroism in World War I as chaplain in France to the 69th Regiment of the New York National Guard. A memorial to him was erected in New York's Times Square.
