Dulong and Petit’s Law
an empirical rule according to which the specific heat of all simple solids at constant volume does not depend on temperature and is 6 cal/mole-deg). It was established by the French scientists P. Dulong and A. Petit in 1819. Dulong and Petit’s law is approximately correct for the majority of elements and simple compounds at room temperature. At low temperatures, Dulong and Petit’s law is not valid. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
