Dumbadze, Nina Iakovlevna 

Born May 23, 1919, in Odessa. Soviet track athlete, Honored Master of Sport (1943); member of the CPSU since 1946; teacher.

Dumbadze was USSR discus champion in 1939, from 1943 to 1944, and from 1946 to 1950 and held the USSR record from 1937 to 1960. She was European discus champion in 1946 and 1950, won a medal at the Olympic games in 1952, and held the world discus record from 1948 to 1960. She set her personal record in 1952 with a throw of 57 m 4 cm. Dumbadze has been awarded two orders and various medals.
