Dumont (d`mŏnt), borough (1990 pop. 17,187), Bergen co., NE N.J.; settled 1677 by the Dutch, inc. 1894. It is a primarily residential suburb of Hackensack.

We were close to Vanikoro, really the one to which Dumont d'Urville gave the name of Isle de la Recherche, and exactly facing the little harbour of Vanou, situated in 16@ 4' S.
It is even possible that the Selenites have already planted the flag on one of their poles, while Franklin, Ross, Kane, Dumont, d'Urville, and Lambert have never yet been able to attain that unknown point of the terrestrial globe.
