Dump Truck

a self-unloading truck, trailer, or semitrailer. There are two basic types of dump trucks—those with a bunker-type tilting bed and an inclined floor and those with powered unloading, for example, by means of a screw conveyor. Dump trucks with tilting beds are most common. Telescope-type hydraulic lifts are most often used to tilt the beds. In the USSR, dump trucks use lot-produced chassis and have load capacities of 3.5 to 10 tons; dump trucks used in quarries have capacities of 27 tons, 40 tons, and more.
