Dunglison, Robley

Dunglison, Robley (1798–1869) physiologist, medical educator, author; born in Keswick, England. After he had made a reputation in medical circles in Europe, President Thomas Jefferson invited him to teach at the University of Virginia in 1825. In 1833 he went to the University of Maryland and he then joined the faculty of the Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia (1836–68). His books include Human Physiology (1832) and A New Dictionary of Medical Science and Literature (1833).
