Duranty, Walter (1884–1957) journalist; born in Liverpool, England. Joining the New York Times in 1913, he became its Moscow correspondent (1922–41) and won a 1932 Pulitzer Prize for reporting. Regarded by some as an expert, he has been soundly criticized for pro-Stalinist bias. How to thank TFD for its existence?
