Durmitor

 

a mountain massif in the Dinaric Alps, in Yugoslavia. Elevations to 2,522 m. It is composed mainly of limestones, and there is karst. It is strongly dissected by gorges of rivers of the Piva and Tara basins. There are ancient glacial lakes. Evergreen and deciduous forests cover the slopes. Durmitor has been a national park since 1952.

During the summer months, mist-shrouded peaks of the Durmitor Mountains overlook some of the most pristine countryside in the region, providing nature enthusiasts with breathtaking overlooks along hundreds of miles of hiking trails.

You wouldn't know where to start, from the heights of the beautiful mount Durmitor, (which is just being con nected with a new road to Boka Kotorska), through the picturesque National Parks Lake Biograd, Lovcen, Lake Skadar and the beautiful stretch of coastline, from Herceg Novi to Ada Bojana, near Ulcinj.
The breathtaking UNESCO-protected Durmitor National Park, which has more than 18 glacial lakes, is in the north-west of Montenegro.
