Dutch Colonial architecture
A broad term describing the architecture prevalent in the Dutch-settled parts of America during the early part of the 17th century. The earliest houses were simple one-story, single-room permanent dwellings.

As a result of Dutch rule, each of the islands is dominated by Dutch colonial architecture and custom, though in most cases infused with colorful local flourishes.
It is sleepy, unpretentious and utterly charming, with Dutch colonial architecture in a rainbow of tropical colors, as if the painting crews drew inspiration from the marine park itself.
Their hands-on philanthropy has transformed an entire section of Otrabanda's dilapidated slum, known as the Iron Quarter, into a magnificently renovated historical district--the best example of Dutch colonial architecture in the Caribbean.
