dynamic noise reduction The removal of unwanted artifacts in video material. The simplest noise reduction works primarily by comparing one frame to the next and removing tiny specks that are not the same in each frame. More advanced dynamic noise reduction (DNR) circuits not only handle temporal reduction (frame-to-frame), but also deal with spatial noise reduction, which detects and removes undesirable noise within the same frame. See noise and artifacts.
