Dzhinal

 

a mountain range in the northern Caucasus, southeast of Kislovodsk. Dzhinal is a cuesta formed by limestone and sandstone of the Cretaceous period. The highest point is Upper Dzhinal Mountain (1,541 m). There are numerous caves, and steppe vegetation grows on the slopes.

It lies at an altitude between 600 and 2600m and extends from the modern town of Kislovodsk and its environs to the slopes of the Borgustan range in the north, the upper reaches of the Podkumok River in the west, Malij Dzhinal mountain in the east and the Kich-Malka River in the south.
