Dzneladze, Boris Davidovich 

Born Aug. 23 (Sept. 5), 1901, in Gori; died Oct. 5, 1923, in Borzhomi. One of the organizers of the Komsomol of Georgia; became a member of the Communist Party in 1917. The son of a merchant.

In September 1917, Dzneladze was an active participant in the creation in Tbilisi of the Spartak youth organization. In 1919 he was a member of the Tbilisi Spartak Committee; later he became a member of the regional committee of the Komsomol of the Caucasus. In October 1919 he was arrested by the Menshevik government of Georgia for participation in the preparations for an armed uprising, and he was exiled from Georgia in early 1920. However, he returned and continued his revolutionary work. In March 1920 he was arrested again and confined, first in the Metekhi Prison in Tbilisi and then in the Kutaisi Prison. He was liberated in May 1920 and headed the preparations for the convocation of the Georgian Komsomol Congress, which opened on Aug. 25, 1920, but was broken up by the Menshevik authorities; Dzneladze was again arrested and exiled. In September 1920 he participated in the Congress of Peoples of the East in Baku and, in October, in the Third Congress of the Georgian Komsomol. After the establishment of Soviet power in Georgia he became secretary of the Central Committee of the Georgian Komsomol, secretary of the Second Raion Committee of the Tbilisi Organization of the Georgian Communist Party (Bolshevik), secretary of the Dusheti District Committee of the party, and commissar of the Tbilisi Military School. Dzneladze is buried in Tbilisi, where a street and the Palace of Pioneers are named after him.
