A hard mineral wax with a melting point of 80-90°C; white after purification and brown in the crude form; soluble in carbon tetrachloride, benzene, and chloroform; used for shoe and furniture polishes, adhesive pastes, roofing paints, and phonograph records. Also known as lignite wax.
