cyclamate (sī'kləmāt', –mət), any member of a group of salts of cyclamic acid (cyclohexanesulfamic acid). The sodium and calcium salts were commonly used as artificial sweeteners sweetener, artificial, substance used as a low-calorie sugar substitute.
