The IBM System/390 computer line introduced in late 1990 that used 31-bit addressing with maximum memory capacities from 256MB to 9GB. Its 18 models (Model 120 to Model 960) offered the widest range of power in a single introduction at one time with prices ranging from $70K to $23M. Vector processing was optional on high-end water-cooled and certain air-cooled models. See System/390.

Specifically, IBM is cutting the price on the upgrade from OS/390 to z/OS for customers moving off its own ES/9000 9221 entry, 9121 midrange, and 9021 mainframes, which date from the early 1990s and are based on bipolar MCM technology.
Moog planned to double the MIPS capacity of its ES/9000 enterprise server while migrating to new versions of both DB2 and its operating system environment, but needed to control its costs.
The data centers, which run IBM ES/9000 [TM] mainframes, process an average of 14,000 P&C claims daily.
