town (1990 pop. 26,144), New Haven co., S Conn., on Long Island Sound, a residential suburb of New Haven, in a farm area; inc. 1785. Light industry, distribution and warehousing, electronics, and insurance and investment firms are important. Of interest are an early 18th-century stone church and a trolley museum.
