Eastern Michigan University,

mainly at Ypsilanti, Mich.; coeducational; founded 1849 as a normal school, became Eastern Michigan College in 1956, gained university status in 1959. In 1964 a college of business was added to the three original colleges of arts and sciences, education, and the graduate school. The university maintains various extension centers throughout the state.
