Eastpointe

Eastpointe, formerly East Detroit, city (1990 pop. 35,283), Macomb co., SE Mich., a suburb of Detroit; inc. 1925 as Halfway village, renamed and inc. as a city 1929. Mostly residential, it has been marked by a decrease in population since the 1970s as Detroit's industrial and economic growth has faltered. Its name was changed from East Detroit in 1992.
