ebXML

(Electronic Business using XML) A framework initiated in 1999 for developing a business transaction vocabulary based on XML. Based on work done by the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT), ebXML provides descriptors for modeling business processes that include the definition of software components.

ebXML is designed for global interoperability and to facilitate the transition from older electronic data interchange (EDI) formats to the Internet. The ebXML specifications are jointly sponsored by OASIS and UN/CEFACT. For more information, visit www.ebxml.org. See UBL.

In order to support the e-learning metadata ontology in interoperable ebXML registries, a mapping scheme between LOM and ebXML Registry Information Model (RIM) is proposed.
This paper employs e-Business eXtensible Markup Language (ebXML) registry standards comprising ebXML Registry Information Model (ebRIM) [8] and ebXML Registry Service (ebRS) [9] in order to boost semantic interoperability.
Topics include evaluating centrality measures in large call graphs, a DAG synchronization constraint language for business processes, registering UMM business collaboration models in an ebXML registry, and dynamic resource prices in a combinatorial grid system.
In phase 2, OASIS assumed responsibility for maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure specifications, including the work of making the ebXML registry compatible with Web services metadata.
Approved OASIS Standards include AVDL, BCM, CAP, DITA, DocBook, DSML, ebXML BPSS, ebXML CPPA, ebXML Messaging, ebXML Registry, EDXL-DE, EML, OpenDocument, SAML, SOA-RM, SPML, UBL, UDDI, WSDM, WS-Notification, WS-Reliability, WSRF, WSRP, WS-Security, XACML, XCBF, and XML Catalogs.
In particular, the ebXML Registry provides a set of services that enable sharing of information between interested parties for the purpose of business process integration between such parties based on the ebXML specifications.

In doing so, BCM complements other OASIS Standards, such as SAML, UBL, WS-Reliability, ebXML Messaging, ebXML Registry, UDDI, and XACML," explained Patrick Gannon, president and CEO of OASIS.
