(body)ECMA International - (Formerly European Computer Manufacturers Association) An industry association founded in 1961 and dedicated to the standardisation of information and communication systems.

ECMA edits standards and technical reports. All ECMA publications are available free of charge.

The best known ECMA standard is ECMA 262, defining the scripting language ECMAScript.

GENEVA -- Ecma International is developing an International Standard for 60 GHz technology for very high data rate short range unlicensed communications aiming at bulk data transfer, high-definition multimedia streaming and wireless personal area networking applications.
As a key member of the Ecma International task force assigned to work on the Open Office standards, NextPage CTO Tom Ngo edited Ecma's white paper on the Office Open XML standard.
Adobe and Mozilla are both active participants in the ECMA International Programming Language technical committee (TC39-TG1) developing the ECMAScript Edition 4 (ES4) standard.
