The Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities, the Institute for Applied Language Studies, New College, and the Edinburgh School of Agriculture are associated with the university.
Edinburgh, University of the largest higher educational institution in Scotland. The university was founded in 1583. In 1976 it had faculties of divinity, law, arts, social sciences, science, medicine, veterinary medicine, and music. Attached institutions include the New College (founded 1846), an institute of humanities, and a center of rural economy.
