Edison battery [¦ed·ə·sən ¦bad·ə·rē]
(electricity)
A storage battery composed of cells having nickel and iron in an alkaline solution. Also known as nickel-iron battery.

Edison Battery 

an alkaline storage cell with electrodes made of iron (+) and nickel (-). It is one of the basic types of storage cells and is used in aviation, communications, and battery-driven trucks.
