Edman, Irwin (1896–1954) philosopher; born in New York City. He taught at Columbia University from 1920 to 1954 and wrote several books, including Four Ways to Philosophy (1937) and Philosopher's Holiday (1938), a collection of informal reminiscences. He frequently wrote on issues of the day for a general audience and was often heard on radio.
