Landau, Edmund Georg Hermann
Born Feb. 14, 1877, in Berlin; died there Feb. 19, 1938. German mathematician. Landau was appointed a professor at the University of Göttingen in 1909. His studies dealt with analytic number theory and the theory of functions of a complex variable.
