Edward R. Madigan State Fish & Wildlife Area Location: West central Illinois, along Salt Creek in Logan County, on the south edge of Lincoln. Facilities: Picnic area, shelters, playground areas, horseshoe pits, hiking/bicycle trail (7 miles), jogging trail. Activities: Canoeing, fishing, picnicking, hiking, mountain biking, hunting. Special Features: Formerly known as Railsplitter State Park, the park now honors Edward R. Madigan (1936-1994) for his lifelong dedication to state and national public service. The park is the home of the largest sycamore tree in the state and is located near several state historic sites in and around the city of Lincoln.
