Efremov

Efremov 

a city in Tula Oblast, RSFSR. It is located on the left bank of the Krasivaia Mecha River (a tributary of the Don). Efremov is a railroad station on the Moscow-Donbas line. Population, 48,000 (1970). A synthetic rubber factory was built in the city in 1933. Efremov produces biological preparations, canned food, beer, and cheese. The city also has a meat combine and railway transport enterprises. A chemical technology technicum is located there. Efremov arose in 1672 as a fortified point and became a city in 1777.
