Efremov, Nikolai Nikolaevich
Born Feb. 22 (Mar. 6), 1886, in Sumy; died Feb. 26, 1947, in Moscow. Soviet chemist; Honored Worker in Science and Technology of the RSFSR (1947). Efremov graduated from the St. Petersburg Polytechnic Institute in 1911; he was a pupil of N. S. Kurnakov. In 1924 he became a professor at the Ural Chemical Engineering Institute and other higher schools. In 1937 he became the head of the laboratory of physicochemical analysis of organic compounds, which he had founded, at the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. He was one of the founders of physicochemical analysis of systems formed by organic compounds. He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and a medal. REFERENCEPogodin, S.
