Eggan, Fred

Eggan, Fred (1906–91) anthropologist; born in Seattle, Wash. He took a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1933 and became a specialist in Hopi Indian society. Among his published works is Social Organization of the Western Pueblos (1950). A leader of professional anthropology organizations, he was named an emeritus professor in 1974 after a long teaching career at the University of Chicago.
