Egorov, Anatolii Grigor’evich 

Born Oct. 25, 1920, at Skopin, Riazan’ Oblast. Soviet philosopher. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR since 1974 (Corresponding Member since 1962), and member of the CPSU since 1944.

Egorov graduated from the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute in 1941. In 1946 he embarked on a career of teaching and journalism, becoming editor in chief of the magazine Politicheskoe samoobrazovanie in 1956. In 1961 he became deputy head of the CPSU Central Committee’s department of agitation and propaganda, in 1965, editor in chief of the magazine Kommunist, and in 1974, director of the Marxism-Leninism Institute under the CPSU Central Committee. At the Twenty-second Congress of the CPSU he was elected a member of the Central Auditing Commission and at the Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth Congresses, candidate member of the Central Committee of the CPSU. Egorov has been awarded two orders and several medals.
